LAN Infrastructure Cabling Cat 6
Category 6 is the specification for cabling systems
to support data transmission at very high speeds, offering a bandwidth
of 200MHz. It provides an excellent platform for Gigabit Ethernet
(which uses complex encoding techniques to limit the required bandwidth
to 100MHz), but also caters for future high-speed data transmission
protocols using less expensive encoding techniques.
If you are currently running Fast Ethernet then installing Category
6 cabling now will enable you to make two technology leaps: to Gigabit
Ethernet, and then beyond. This will prevent future disruption to
your business, which will easily offset the additional cost of installing
Category 6 now.
Remember that Enhanced Category 5 may not be capable of supporting
technologies beyond Gigabit Ethernet.
If
you are currently thinking about re-cabling then you should think
about installing Category 6 now. It will give you a network capable
of supporting your data communication needs both now and for years
to come.
